The Schwerbehindertenausweis documents a degree of disability (Grad der Behinderung, GdB) of at least 50. It entitles you to significant benefits: additional tax deductions (Behinderten-Pauschbetrag), 5 extra days of annual leave, special protection against dismissal, and depending on Merkzeichen: free or reduced public transport, parking privileges, and more.
